The STEM Class Corner

Arduino is one of the technologies we must consider.. if we are to keep STEM an exciting corner of the Science, Technology (Engineering) and Maths programs in your 2021 Learning Plan!  You might like to look at the checklist for a STEM class that was run in 2005!

 Your overall task in first Semester is to design, investigate and begin to construct a project that uses all of your own STEM skills. NO project will look look like anybody else's project.  You will bring your own individual skills and enthusiasm to this class.

• Pictured in the third week of second semester is a picture of a long-passed physicist,  Professor Kirchoff.  Understanding how science develops step-by-step is an important way of understanding STEM.

This is what you have to do today -- Thursday 29th of July -

1. Email Mr. Widmer and tell him what picture is shown on this web page today (in that way he knows that you have been on this page!

2. Complete this week's questions and activities!

3. Email Mr. W. if you wish to borrow a partly completed project next week!

4. Provide evidence, by email, of the project you have been thinking about this week.  It should be a commitment for the rest of the year.

Here is the list of required tasks for keeping up with the Year 8 Class at ManorLakesP12.  These are activities you must complete each week!

• Have you finished the tasks set on the  previous week?
• Have you emailed a short progress report to Mr W. this week?
• Have you maintained your Google docs folder for STEM this week?
• If you are working in a team .. have you communicated with your team members this week?
• Have you thought about how you will control your project?
• Do you need to borrow any electronics to run your project?
