Geogebra - Is it Congruent or Similar?

In this activity we will investigate the relationship between a triangle and congruent or similar copies.

  1. Load this Geogebra file

You should see two triangles.

  1.  Now use the handle to move the smaller triangle over the larger triangle.

You should see triangle moving.

  1. Place the smaller triangle over the larger triangle.  Put the smaller triangle over the point named "VertexB".

Use the angle tool to measure the angles of the smaller triangle.

Questions
  1. What is the internal angle at VertexB?
  2. What are the internal angles of the small triangle?  How did you work the answer?
  3. What are the internal angles of the larger triangle?
  4. Are these triangles "similar" or "congruent".
Activities
  1. Make a new Geogebra investigation and create a congruent copy of a triangle.
  2. Save a copy of your investigation in your "Maths is Amazing" folder.
