Geogebra - What Circumference does this circle have?

In this activity we will investigate the relationship between a circle and its cylindrical shape.

  1. Load this Geogebra file

You should see a 3D shape

2. Now move the point labelled "B"

You should see the volume of the volume change.

  1. Use this spreadsheet to record the volumes and the lengths of B ( the third dimension)  of the cube

Questions
  1. What is the length the cube?  (Hint use Algebra window to find answer )
  2. What is total face area of the cube if the base is 3 units?  How did you work out the answer?
  3. Does your spreadsheet data file reveal a relationship between the length and volume measurement?
Activities
  1. Change the cube shape by moving point B again.  Keep changing the base length until you have filled your spreadsheet data table.
  2. Save a copy of your spreadsheet in your "Maths is Amazing" folder.
