French Island

Only 10 minutes by Ferry and a little more than an hour from Melbourne, this island is rarely visited.  You should take a bush tired bicycle if you are to travel looking for orchids.

it might see as if French Island was only mangroves and mosquitoes the duck orchid was growing in the middle of a sandy track the bike track passed through a bed of the Purple Flag .. Patersonia
growing beside swampy puddles on the track ... the Patersonia Occidentalis seemed tolerated the poor conditions this sun orchid grew beside the main road across the island commonly called the "tufted blue lily" this bright flower revealed another splash of blue beside the sandy track
the blue Dampiera lined the bicycle track the spotted sun orchid grew in the boggier parts of the Park the Parrot pea grew in the protection of the coastal tea tree
