Chiltern Box-Ironbark National Park

Halfway between Wangaratta and Wodonga, this small National park lies astride the freeway.  It protects a profusion of spring flowers. 

the five anthers suggest the popular name, "finger flower",  for Cheiranthera cyanea a scramble of Leopard orchids on the box forest floor the spectacular Gompholobium is often known as the Wedge pea
the wide shape of this pea suggests the genus "Dillwynia" to the keen observer this Greenhood was huge, but we still had trouble seeing it Athropodium_strictum.jpg (47848 bytes)
Burchardia umbellata fills the wet hollow beside a mine dam Brunonia australis is better known as the "Pin Cushion" daisy once ravaged by gold mining the foundations of the mine stamper slowly disappear into the bush
