Cradle Mountain

From Dove Lake it looks so close. Be prepared, however, for rocky climb to the summit if you wish to complete the Cradle mountain day walk.  To the south you will see the Overland walking track that has become one of Australia's most popular long distance walks.

After the climb to Marion's Lookout .. Cradle is in view the dolerite was formed from the magma of the breaking Gondwanaland on the summit, only the lichen can take hold in the harsh rocky environment
in the distance, Waterfall Valley and Barn Bluff to the south .. the rocky jumble of Mt. Emmett rocky columns abound on the Cradle Mountain summit
in cloud the route is hard to follow descend carefully over human sized boulders from the western end of Cradle mountain the dolerite columns are imposing
