Mt Field

Just two hours drive west of Hobart and you arrive in the undeveloped ski field of Mt. Field.  In April the leaves of Nothofagus Cunninghamii change colour with a stunning natural display not seen in Australia's evergreen forests.

A splash of colour on the lakes the glacial lake that lies to the immediate south of the tarn lakes a close up of the Nothofagus cunninghamii leaf
Fire leaves grey ghost trunks The colour of the leaves surrounds a string of lakes The Richea scoparia grows in the damp bogs
at the top of the range small tarns abound another day will take you to Mt Field West to the south the enticing ranges
