Eagle's Peaks

Three hours drive from Melbourne and just south of Mt. Buller, the Eagle's Peaks over look the Howqua and Jamieson rivers.  As you climb the rocky tops the river valleys wind below you.

once an active gold mining area .. the track leading from Fry's hut is surrounded by another type of gold this pea flower was growing from a small tree first you must push through the ferns and nettles of Lickhole creek before you climb Mt. Darling
Euphrasia lasianthera is restricted to the mountains in this area as you climb the Peaks from the west the Jamieson river valley appears looking back we can see the Governor mountain which we climbed the day before
at last we make it to the top of Eagle's Peaks Leucopogon hookeri produces red berries in summer .. but in spring it has masses of white flowers the Phebalim has stamens that are much longer than the petals
