Mount Jagungal Area

Walk in from Round Mountain on the Kiandra - Khancoban road and you enter a high frost hollow plain bisected by rivers and snow plains.  To the south you can see Mt Kosciuszko and the Main Range.  It took a week to walk down to Australia's highest mountain in late December 1999.

Here the Tumut river flows east towards Far Bald Mountain but first  ... you must cross the Tumut river on the way ... you might see the evil smelling red fungus "Aseroe rubra"
