Mt Stirling in Spring

As the snow retreats to the summit and the days become sunnier, the climb to the Mt Stirling reveals the extent of the mountains around us.

on the distant Mt Buller skiiers have machines to take them to the mountain we overlook the Stanley bowl with the Howqua valley and The Bluff in the distance the essential difference between this form of skiing .. we ski uphill!
never completely covered by snow the Mt Stirling granite frames the distant mountains looking north we see the distinctive stepped shape of Mt Cobbler returning from the Stanley bowl we climb the eastern side of Mt Stirling
climbing from the Monument saddle we sight the snow dusted mountains near Mt Speculation returning to the car park, the snow gums loom their shadows over the track as if trampled by the cattle, the grass appears on Monument saddle
