Grampians Scenery -- September 1999

Rocky sandstone ridges and wet gullies provide a habitat for a wide range of plants and animals on the western side of the Grampians National park.

Tall Eucalylyptus and Acacia grow profusely in the wetter parts of the sandstone gullys The Grampians Wide Web prominent stamens and the bright pink petals of the Calytrix make it easy to spot
The curiously named blue "Love creeper" climbs over any plant The stumpy tail lizard confuses its enemies.  Which end is the  head? Victoria's thryptomene showers the low sandy country in white flowers
The soft reddish glow of the Dodonea seeds brighten the bush Victoria's floral emblem grows in all shades from white to bright pink sharp dagger leaves of the Acacia oxycedrus scratch walkers unprotected legs
