The Macedon Ranges Walking Track

It will take a full day to walk the circuit from Mt Towrong over the Camels Hump to the Mt Macedon memorial.  You will pass, in that day, the full range of vegetation types that are found in Victoria.  The track is marked with "MRWT" signposts.

the rocky western side of Mt. Towrong is quite dry the summer flowering Dipodium roseum is one of the brightest orchids. This one was found on Mt Towrong in the cool wet gullies of Mt Macedon you find the showy Prostanthera lasianthos
the tall Eucalyptus surrounding the abandoned Santorium lake show the potential height of the unburnt forest the showy pink of the Stylidium contrasts with the pink of the Hyacinth orchid you might care to take your lunch to the rocky outcrops of the Camels Hump
Following the walking track signs you reach the wetter slopes of the mountain where the clinging grass covers most of the understory at last you reach the First world war memorial the blue Wahlenbergia was in full flower in late January
