Melville Caves

The largest mountain in the "Golden Triangle" 60 km north west of Bendigo, Melville caves and Mt. Kooyoora were swathed in Acacia goldust during spring time.  Did a notorious bushranger hide here?  Who knows?  We can discover other more interesting secrets of Victoria's ancient past.

the beautifully  named Indigofera australis shows its bright colour along the bike track Did Captain Melville really hide out here? an unusual feature of the district are the hollowed granite boulders.  What forces shaped these rocks?

This "Blunt" Greenhood orchid was growing beneath a granite rock platform peer inside this greenhood orchid and you will see the rusty lip that will catch the insect Stackhousias are often called "Creamy candles" .. the resemblance on this one is clear
