Wonderful Wyperfeld

Tucked in the far north western border of Victoria is the wonderful Wyperfeld National Park.  Long ago abandoned as farm land the country reveals its diversity and colour in spring time.

Every 30 or 40 years this vast flood plain fills with water . the sun orchids were everywhere the golden acacia of the Australian spring time
aptly named .. these flowers are "Golden Pennant" Caladenia dentata is of the orchids you will find in the moist spring time soil of Wyperfeld In the flood seasons which come every 30 years .. masses of Solanum flourish over the plains
this snake was trying to get away from us .. but just had to have a last look! the grass Triodia irritans forms a  natural fortress Surprisingly this apricot flower by the track turned out to be a Prostanthera which we usually see in moist gullys
